Science Fun!

My friend Karen planned a super fun "Science Activities" day at her house and took the kids through various experiments.  We tried making a watermelon explode by wrapping it with rubber bands around the middle.  After 447 rubber bands, it blew up!  It was so fun!

The younger kids had a blast just running around and doing whatever they wanted.

Some of Ezra's buddies!

Elijah at the beginning stages of constructing a tower our of spaghetti noodles and mini marshmallows.

They used newspaper, straws and tape to construct a protective case for an egg...the goal was to be able to drop it inside the case from a certain height and not have it break.

They built boats out of foil and tried to load them up with as many pennies as possible before they sank. The winning boat held 148 pennies!

Flower Garden

We have a great bike and walking trail nearby, and spotted this sunflower along the path one day.

A close up of the sunflower.

We've had a lot of rain this summer, so the flower garden in front of our house is doing really well.

Zinnias...my favorite!

I planted a sunflower seed, which is turning out to be a colossal plant. I can't wait to see how big the flower turns out to be.
